Charles Large

Overview

Charles Large is a modular sofa from Antonio Citterio, made by B&B Italia and dated 2003 on both the product sheet and the page. The manufacturer presents it as an exceptionally comfortable seat with a fabric or leather cover, airy and light in shape, which develops the idea of the sofa as a welcoming shelter where you can also lie down. It is the wider-depth version of the Charles system.

Construction

The structure is a steel frame of tubes and profiles with cold shaped flexible polyurethane foam and a polyester fibre cover. A seat cushion of shaped polyurethane in graded densities holds sterilized down in the home version and polyester fibre in the public-spaces version. Elements CH48_C to CH72_C come with box-style back cushions: polyester fibre, cotton cover. The feet are die-cast aluminium, 19 cm (7 1/2") high; fabric or leather forms the cover.

The sheet dates the sofa 2003 and credits Antonio Citterio. Its drawings cover three 270 cm sofas and two 158 cm elements, and it states that the feet raise the sofa 19 cm from the ground.
