Description
Overview
Cestlavie Outdoor carries the weaving and basketry theme of GamFratesi's Cestlavie into new materials for Poltrona Frau. A woven rope body sits on a powder-coated aluminium frame, and the piece is an informal, versatile accessory that serves as a low table or a small container.
Construction
- Frame: two circular-section aluminium tubes at the top, with an internal reinforcement of shaped aluminium rods embedded in the weave
- Legs: aluminium, joined to the frame by die-cast aluminium fittings, with adjustable stainless steel feet and nylon tips
- Weave: rope made for outdoor use
- Detail: a shiny chrome-plated plaque embossed with the Poltrona Frau logo, on the upper edge

Story
Weaving carried outdoors
Cestlavie Outdoor keeps the weaving and basketry theme of the indoor Cestlavie and changes its materials. It is made with woven ropes and materials designed for outdoor environments, chosen to ensure weatherproofing. The design draws inspiration from the traditional sewing basket, reinterpreted with weather-resistant materials such as powder-coated aluminium and hand-woven rope.
Frame, legs and weave
Two circular-section aluminium tubes form the top of the structure, with shaped aluminium rods embedded in the weave as reinforcement. The aluminium legs join the structure through die-cast fittings and end in adjustable stainless steel feet with nylon tips. The upper edge of the basket carries a chrome-plated plaque embossed with the Poltrona Frau logo.
