Cab Tab Table

Overview

The Cab Tab is a Cassina table by Mario Bellini. The page describes it as "hand-moulded saddle leather in the shape of a table"; the product sheet gives "Mario Bellini, 2023" and the page headline 2020.

Construction

The sheet lists a structure in iron painted black, clad in saddle leather, with a top in polished or matte marble, or in wood. The page says the leather parts are cut with a CNC machine, worked by hand, sewn and hand-moulded to the metal skeleton, with zippers along the inside of each leg.

From the Cab chair to a table

The page ties the table to a chair: in 1977 Mario Bellini and Cassina clad the structure of a chair in saddle leather, and the same aesthetic language is here extended to what the page calls an elegant, sophisticated table.

Artisan work

Cab Tab highlights the expertise of the company's artisans in the lengthy, intricate processing of saddle leather. Saddlery top-stitching is visible in the junctures between the parts, and the upholstery closes with zippers along the inside of each leg.
