Overview
Butter is a three-seater sofa by Faye Toogood for Tacchini. According to Tacchini, it reinterprets the enveloping comfort of the Butter modular sofa in a fixed composition that keeps the spontaneous and authentic character of the original design.
Construction
The sofa is built on a wooden frame, with multi-density polyurethane foam for the padding. The seat cushion uses hypoallergenic fibre, and the upholstery is fabric or leather. The page lists two cushioning options, B10 Relaxed and B20 Tailored.
Specifications
The reference model, code 0BTTDV310, measures 310 W x 115 D x 84 H cm.
Story
From the modular system
Tacchini says the three-seater translates the soft volumes of the Butter modular system into a more defined and compact configuration, with the same free-spirited and unconventional attitude. The generous upholstery envelops the whole structure.
Modelled in butter
In Tacchini's account of the collaboration, the maquettes for the modular sofa were first modelled in ever-softening butter, and the original Butter Sofa was shaped from a slab of Cornish butter.
