Description
Overview
Brasilia is Marcio Kogan / Studio MK27's seating family for Minotti, in an ultra-precise, minimal style rooted in Brazilian modernism. It offers two sofa sizes (196 and 273 cm long), one-arm elements in several lengths with or without a top, an armchair and a small ottoman. The seating sits inside a square frame in Dark Brown stained palisander Santos, on metal feet in polished Brandy.

Construction
Plywood and resilient, variable-density foam topped by a Memory Foam layer make the structure; the seat is metal, suspended on rubber-rich elastic webbing. The plywood frame is palisander Santos veneer stained Dark Brown under matt polyester lacquer, and some pieces use solid Canaletto walnut slats for part of the structure. Both cushions, back and seat, are filled with channelled goose down and carry the Assopiuma Gold Label. The legs are satin-finish solid metal rods of 25 mm, polished Brandy.
Specifications
Sofa 273 cm: 273 cm wide, 98 cm deep and 85 cm high, as Minotti draws it. The 196 cm sofa has an identical depth of 98 cm and height of 85 cm.
Story
Brazil in the fifties
Minotti says Brasilia has a strong architectural feel in its volumes and proportions, which points to Marcio Kogan's interiors and architecture and salutes the culturally rich Brazil of the 1950s, when Oscar Niemeyer and Lucio Costa were prominent figures.
Mid-Century, updated
A Mid-Century aesthetic is revisited and made modern in lines, volumes and materials, notably Dark Brown stained palisander Santos, and in structural details. The page says the family reinterprets shapes of the past and sets materials of strong expressive power side by side: wood, metal, fabric and leather.
