Overview
The Avio Sofa System is Piero Lissoni's modular, linear sofa for Knoll, introduced in 2018. Its slim steel framework contrasts with the volume of the upholstered seats.
Construction
- Central beam of heavy-gauge tubular steel, chrome or painted
- Each seat attached to the beam through its own frame
- Variable-density foam cushions with polyester fibrefill
- Frame finishes Chrome (polished), Black and Silver; requires assembly

Story
An industrial project
Knoll's shop says that in 2018 Piero Lissoni combined his tailored aesthetic and balanced proportions with an innovative frame, and quotes him calling Avio a true industrial project of great complexity. It is built on the idea of a structural beam, a steel truss supporting a series of platforms, or seats.
