Story
A four-legged Ant
The product page for the 3101 says the model keeps the sculptural simplicity of the original three-legged Ant and widens its expressive profile for many kinds of interior. Jacobsen's four-legged chair was occasionally produced during his lifetime, but Fritz Hansen put it into official production only in 1971.

Shell and legs
The shell is nine layers of pressure moulded veneer, finished in lacquered or coloured ash veneer or in one of eight clear lacquered veneers, on four legs of tubular steel that are chromed or powder coated. The product data counts 16 shell colours and six leg finishes.
