Description

Overview

The Andy Armchair is the one-place seat of the Andy range, which bears the imprint of Pierre Paulin. It can be covered in 29 materials and combines a quilted, piped seat with a chromed steel base.

Construction

The frame joins 3-layer particleboard panels and multi-ply panels, reinforced by a mechanically soldered steel seat structure clad in polyether foam. The base is square-section steel with a visible armrest insert, chromed either brilliant or gloss black. The seat is individually sprung, with steel wires suspended on Pullmaflex steel springs. The seat cushions use Bultex polyurethane foam of high resilience in several densities (38 kg/m³ dominant, 3.6 kPa), topped by a 300 g/m² polyester quilting layer.

Specifications

Overall size: W 830 x D 830 x H 730 mm, seat height 420 mm, one place, weight 50 kg.

Story

A softer reading of the Knoll settee

Andy seems set to be a great classic, bearing the imprint of Pierre Paulin. He reinterpreted Florence Knoll's settee of 1954: every contour was softened, the number of buttons was cut so the severe squares of quilting disappeared, and the metal structure that underlined the base edges vanished, keeping only the four legs.

Leather first

At the front and at the rear, the legs of chromed steel stand within the armrests. Andy first appeared in leather; textiles with a pleasant hand and an 'ennobling' effect are also possible.
