Background
Welling/Ludvik is a Copenhagen-based industrial design studio established in 2012 by Hee Welling (Denmark) and Gudmundur Ludvik (Iceland). Fredericia describes Welling as a designer with international acclaim and Ludvik as trained as a furniture designer, cabinetmaker and sculptor. The studio works with furniture, lighting and accessories.
Signature Style
The studio states that it creates sustainable furniture with an industrial approach for the circular economy. Its designs are described as minimalist and functional, stripping away the redundant so that each detail serves a purpose, and as blending Scandinavian principles with traditional craftsmanship and modern production technology. Material usage, construction, comfort, pricing and sustainability are named as the defining factors.
