Biography
Background
Scholten & Baijings is an Amsterdam design studio founded as a formal practice in 2000 by the Dutch designers Stefan Scholten and Carole Baijings, partners in work and life.
Signature Style
The studio works with the tension between color and pattern, surface and form, and design and production. Stefan focuses on ideology and Carole on details and production, and the couple's own home and family serve as the testing ground for each product they make.
Notable Works
Textiles, carpets, glass, ceramics, furniture and lighting, museum exhibitions, a concept car for MINI and, for Herman Miller, the ColourForm Sofa Group.
Legacy
Recognized by three ELLE Decoration International Design Awards and four Dutch Design Awards, with a Phaidon monograph, Reproducing Scholten & Baijings, in 2015.
