Biography

Background

Patrick Nicole Zulauf was born in 1974 in Langenthal, Switzerland, and spent much of his childhood in his father's aircraft workshop, where he turned junkyard finds into new, useful objects. He trained as a design engineer and metal caster at JRG near Basel, worked as a draughtsman for Hans Zaugg's design studio in Solothurn from 1995 to 1997 and, from 2000, studied product design and interior architecture at Basel's art school.

Signature Style

After joining BELUX as an industrial designer and product engineer, he concentrated almost entirely on light and on how lighting is built, developing lighting systems for homes and for exhibitions.

Notable Works

His Ligne Roset creations are Mayfly, Chrome bell, Brass bell, Feston and Calot. Since March 2015 he has also designed lights for GO4LIGHT AG in Liestal.

Legacy

In 2013 he opened his own interdisciplinary studio in Basel, where he works on one-off pieces and series-produced items as a designer and product engineer.
