Biography

Background

Maria Bruun (b. 1984) is a Danish furniture designer based in Copenhagen. Her own studio says she took an MA in 2012 at the Royal Danish Academy's School of Design in Copenhagen, and Fredericia describes her as its Head of Design.

Signature Style

Fredericia describes her approach as sculptural minimalism: she visualises ideas in a spatial context, much like a set designer, and works with familiar materials in new constellations, with a particular love of wood. Her studio describes design as curiosity, respect and care, developed in close dialogue with skilled craftsmen.
