Biography
Background
Linda Korndal, born in Denmark in 1982, is an architect and designer. She completed her architectural studies at Copenhagen's Royal Danish Academy, and GUBI describes her as having worked at the forefront of international architecture and design for two decades. In 2020 she founded the Copenhagen studio Toko Among Friends.
Signature Style
Korndal moves between architecture, interiors and furniture. GUBI characterises her method as a meeting of architectural analysis and sensitivity to small details, guided by curiosity about the emotional exchange between spaces, objects and their observers.
Notable Works
The Keen Shelving System is Toko Among Friends' first design for GUBI. Its adaptable structure reflects the studio's attention to everyday actions and rituals while combining practical organisation with a distinct personality.
Legacy
Toko Among Friends takes its name from toko na mo, a small recess or niche in Japanese homes used to store or display valued objects. GUBI connects that idea with the studio's interest in giving everyday objects a meaningful setting and balancing Scandinavian simplicity with playfulness and poetry.
