Collection Story

Origin

Fredericia's Spoke-Back Collection page lists two seats: Børge Mogensen's Spoke-Back Sofa, dated 1945 on its fact sheet, and the 1788 easy chair by Hans J. Wegner, which the sheet dates to 1974 and calls a counterpart to the sofa.

Design Language

Both pieces rest on a solid wood frame with jute webbing under the seat, and both use loose HR foam cushions with buttoned fabric or leather covers. Leather straps hold the back cushion of the chair and the chaise angle of the sofa.
