Collection Story

Origin

Rabbit & the Tortoise Collection is a series of low tables by Studio Juju for Living Divani, listed under the brand's Coffee Tables and, in its outdoor version, under Outdoor. Studio Juju envisioned a living space that is fluid, where movement and activity are indefinite and spontaneous and people adjust themselves to how they inhabit the room. In rethinking that context, the studio found a parallel between this fluid interaction and the movement of water around islands. The collection was awarded the Singapore President's Design Award, Design of the Year, in 2014.

Design Language

The tables come in varying shapes and heights, and their outlines follow curves that invite people to position themselves freely along them, which the studio ties to a sense of liberation and playful interaction. Their placement is meant to be sinuous, adding elegance and joy to a home; the outdoor version extends this to indoor and outdoor environments alike.

Key Pieces

The collection is a family of seven tables of different shapes and sizes, drawn from four named shapes: Rabbit, Tortoise, Round and Long. Indoor and outdoor versions are both made; in the outdoor one the structure changes to stainless steel.
