Collection Story

From Misura M to Quaderna

Zanotta's official fiftieth-anniversary publication traces Quaderna to Superstudio's Misura M furniture of 1969-1972. In 1972 the group designed a plastic laminate for Abet Print and extended its regular grid across furniture surfaces. Aurelio Zanotta accepted the proposal for production and renamed the collection Quaderna.

A surface across many objects

The grid provides a common system rather than a single product shape. Zanotta's publication records tables, desks, a console, coffee table and carpet, while its designer page also lists storage and mirror designs. Each piece carries the same treatment across its external planes.

Production and later additions

The official brochure describes an industrial process followed by hand application of the laminate sheets to the structure. For the collection's fiftieth anniversary, Zanotta added restyled designs from the historical Misura M catalogue and a carpet based on an original drawing.
