Story
A drawer inside the top
On Zanotta's page the writing desk is the Quaderna model whose top hides a retractable pull-out drawer. The drawer is built into the thickness of the top, and its compartment is made of black, scratch-resistant, embossed painted wood.
Printed grid on a hollow-core structure
The structure is hollow-core wood under white Print laminate, and the grid of black squares is a digital print with a 3 cm interval. Zanotta presents the desk as one of the Quaderna pieces by Superstudio, the radical design group whose work the page links to the 1970s.
