Collection Story
Origin
Vitra credits the Lobby Chair to Charles & Ray Eames and dates it 1960. The chair was first conceived for the lobby areas of New York's Time Life Building; the Eames Office adds that Henry Luce, chairman of Time, Inc., invited the couple in 1959 to design that lobby, the first Eames design conceived mainly for the contract market.
