Collection Story

Origin

Husk is a family of seating, small tables and a bed created for B&B Italia by the designer Patricia Urquiola. The concept text on the Husk pages names comfort and eco-sustainability as its key words and calls the collection a tribute to softness: generous extra-soft cushions in a quilted capitonné design, in which classic themes return in contemporary versions.

From one armchair to a family

The B&B Italia shop describes the series as starting with an indoor armchair, followed by an outdoor version and then a dining chair. The sheet of the bed says the armchair gave rise to the series, which also takes in a sofa, chairs and small tables. Urquiola's own pages speak of the Husk collection and present the outdoor armchair as its extension to outdoor use.

Shells and materials

The eco-sustainability the concept text mentions sits in the armchair shells, which B&B Italia says are made of Hirek®, a plastic formed from recycled and recyclable polymers. The chair and the outdoor chair are listed with a shell of high density polyurethane resin.
