Collection Story
Origin
Fly is a series by Space Copenhagen for &Tradition. The product pages of the lounge chair SC1 and the sofa SC3 both give the year 2013 and place the pieces under the heading Fly Seating Collection, which lists SC1, SC2, SC3, SC9, SC10 and SC12. The Fly coffee tables are SC5, SC11 and SC4. Among the seating pieces the SC10 page and sheet give 2017 and the SC9 page 2014, while the SC2 and SC12 sheets give 2013 and the SC12 page 2017.
Design Language
&Tradition describes Fly as a sculptural approach to design that does not give up comfort, and says that it refers to a classic Nordic aesthetic, which the page sees in the slatted wood backrest, the organic shapes and the solid craftsmanship. The brand presents Fly as a series for sitting, lying, resting and relaxing. Unlike many sofas and easy chairs in Scandinavian design history, it sets no particular posture for the sitter. The seat is optimised for comfort, and the loose cushions at the back can be arranged as the user prefers.
