Collection Story

Origin

Muuto first introduced the Fiber Chair in 2014. Designed by Copenhagen duo Iskos-Berlin, it came from a wish to do a forward-thinking take on the archetypal shell chair: not just another plastic chair, but a design with a unique expression that resonated with how we perceive the world today. A later generation was redesigned from a conscious perspective to reduce its environmental impact.

Design Language

Every piece shares a shell in a composite of plastic and wood fibers, giving a uniquely deep surface and a soft, matte touch. The fibers are invisible from afar but revealed up close. Muuto's page announces an EU Ecolabel certificate for the family.

Key Pieces

The family includes the Fiber Side Chair and Fiber Armchair across wood, tube, swivel and A-bases, the Fiber Conference Armchair, Fiber Soft Armchair, Fiber Lounge Chair and Lounge Armchair, the Fiber Stool, Counter Stool and Bar Stool, and outdoor side chair and armchair.
