Fiber Side Chair

Overview

The Fiber Side Chair – Wood Base brings a new perspective to the iconic shell chair. Designed by Copenhagen duo Iskos-Berlin for Muuto, it pairs friendly, embracing curves with a compact footprint, so it offers extensive comfort while taking up little space in the room. The wood fibers blend into the surface of the shell for a matte, softly tactile finish.

Construction

The shell is made of 100% recycled plastic from post-industrial waste, reinforced with strength-improving additives and mixed with up to 25% FSC™-certified wood fibers (FSC-C028824). Because the shell is partly natural, slight color variations can occur. The four-legged base is FSC™-certified oak with a water-based lacquer, also offered stained dark brown or in anthracite black, and stands on plastic glides. Upholstered versions cover the shell in textile, imitation leather or leather.

Shape and base

Muuto describes the Fiber Chair as having friendly, embracing curves that give extensive comfort while taking up little space. In the Wood Base version the shell stands on a four-legged base of FSC™-certified oak with a water-based lacquer; Muuto also lists a stained dark brown version and an anthracite black base.
