Collection Story
Origin
Fredericia's collection page lists four EJ220 sofas by Erik Jørgensen: 2 seater 163 cm (2042), 2½ seater 185 cm (2052) and two 3 seaters of 212 cm (2033 and 2062). The sheets date them to 1970, while the company's page says Erik Jørgensen designed the EJ 220 "during the 1970s". The company's own EJ 220 page, in an archived copy, marked the sofa's 50th anniversary in 2020.
Design Language
According to the company's pages the EJ 220 has a low box, a narrow armrest and fully padded back and armrests with soft pillows, and it set a fashion in minimalistic sofa design. The product pages give all four the same depth (86 cm), height (76 cm) and seat height (42 cm).
