Collection Story
Origin
Drawn is a chair by Hvidt & Mølgaard dated 1956. &Tradition's product pages call it a definitive piece of Danish design, built upon traditional craftsmanship techniques and made out of organic materials, and say it brings a sense of wholesome honesty to any space. The pages list a Drawn Collection of the chair without armrests (HM3), the chair with armrests (HM4) and a Drawn Seat Pad for both.
Design Language
The press release for the re-launch of HM3 and HM4 notes that the chair is also known as Model 316 and that, by 1956, the duo could draw on fifteen years of furniture-making experience. As its name suggests, the chair was sketched out by hand in a pre-computer era, which the release links to its clean simplicity. The back is smooth and crescent shaped and is supported by two rounded columns that extend to the floor, and the identical front legs are connected to the back by two wooden spokes. The &Tradition CEO and founder Martin Kornbek Hansen is quoted on the strong, simple lines and the organic materials.

Construction
Both chairs are made from turned and milled solid wood with a form-pressed backrest, and the seat is hand-woven from more than 100 metres of natural paper cord. Wagner Quick-click felt gliders with interchangeable plastic inserts are fitted. The page names oiled oak, oiled walnut and, as the newest addition, black lacquered oak; the release of the re-launch names white oiled oak and oiled walnut. A seat pad of HR foam upholstered with Prescott leather is offered in black or cognac for a softer seating experience.
