Collection Story

Origin

Chester is the family that begins with Renzo Frau's Chester of 1912. The sheet from the company archive says that, even before the Great War, Frau had seen the Chesterfield sofas and armchairs of London's most exclusive clubs. He first imported the originals into Italy and then made them himself, with some major changes, and the Chester has been hand-crafted ever since. The Chester pages call the classic Chester a model of Edwardian England, revisited by Frau in the first catalogue of 1912 and inspired by the sofas and armchairs of English clubs and country houses, and name it one of the brand's icons.

Design Language

Poltrona Frau has kept the model and extended it. Chester One adds four- and five-seater sofas and poufs, and Chester Line is the line that turns the sofa into a modular system.
