Collection Story
GUBI's Carlo de Carli grouping
GUBI's specification tables place both the CDC.1 Lounge Chair and Poltrona Tria Lounge Chair in a collection named Carlo de Carli. The grouping brings together seating from different moments of the Italian architect and designer's practice rather than presenting one shared construction system.
A human-centred approach
GUBI characterizes De Carli's design philosophy as an integration of space, material, the human body and gesture. The company says his buildings and furniture were designed to be lived in, not merely admired.
Two distinct chairs
The CDC.1 uses a fully upholstered body, conic legs and dynamic angular lines; GUBI says it was first released in 1951, while its table gives 1954 as the design year. Poltrona Tria is identified only as a 1970s design and is formed largely from steam-bent rattan canes, including three-element armrests and a revised rattan support grid.
