Rattan structure
Carlo de Carli's Poltrona Tria is an indoor lounge chair built almost entirely from natural rattan canes. GUBI says the canes are steam-bent and fixed by hand, forming a light but robust frame and the three-element armrests that give the chair its name.
Updated support
For the current version, GUBI replaced the 1970s design's fabric webbing with a rattan grid. A leather band secures the backrest canes, while two deep-set cushions provide the upholstered seat and back.
Drawing dimensions
The official front and side drawings label the chair at 85 W x 103 D x 73 H cm. They also show 43 cm and 57 cm vertical measurements.
Story
Three canes, one armrest
The name Poltrona Tria refers to the three rattan elements composing each armrest. Carlo de Carli shaped those repeated canes into a continuous gesture around the upholstered seat, combining a visibly light frame with the support of a deep lounge chair.
GUBI's material update
GUBI identifies the chair as a design from the 1970s. Its present edition exchanges the original fabric webbing for a rattan grid, retaining the leather band that holds the backrest canes together and finishing the frame with a chestnut semi-gloss coat.
