Brand Story
Heritage
Foscarini was founded in 1981 on the island of Murano in Venice, first creating customised lighting systems for the contract sector. Its first catalogue collection of design lamps followed in 1983, and in 1985 it began working with external designers. In 1988 Carlo Urbinati and Alessandro Vecchiato, who had joined as designers, became the owners. The company later left Murano for Marcon on the Venetian mainland, where it is still based.
Philosophy
Foscarini wants to create designer lamps capable of inspiring connections and harmonies, and to challenge the limits of materials and concepts. Without a glass furnace of its own, it works with specialised suppliers for each material, from industrial glass to polyethylene and fibreglass composites. Its values are freedom, relation, simplicity, avant-garde and Italianity.

Iconic Works
Lumiere by Rodolfo Dordoni was the first great success; Mite and Tite by Marc Sadler won the Compasso d'Oro in 2001; Caboche by Patricia Urquiola with Eliana Gerotto was immediately a best-seller; Twiggy by Marc Sadler became an icon.

Today
Foscarini works with designers from around the world, promotes the Inventario bookzine and the Vite and Maestrie projects, and sells through its dealer network and its own online shop.
