Description
Overview
Zettel'z 5 is the larger version of Ingo Maurer's paper pendant, designed by Ingo Maurer in 1997. A cloud of thin, translucent Japanese paper sheets in DIN A5 format is held on stainless-steel rods around the light body. The manufacturer calls it one of Ingo Maurer's best-known lamps: it leaves plenty of room for the user's creativity and can be arranged to fill the space loosely, or narrowly and densely.
Construction
The lamp is made of stainless steel, heat-resistant satinised glass and Japanese paper. It is supplied with 80 sheets: 31 printed and 49 blank, and the blank sheets are meant for your own messages or sketches; colourful accents can be added with coloured ink. Two light sources give ambient uplight and downward light, for example onto a table surface. A replacement set of 80 sheets (original or all blank) can be reordered.

Story
Notes on paper
Ingo Maurer first presented Zettel'z in 1997. Instead of a fixed shade he offered a kit of loose sheets: 31 printed sheets and 49 blank ones. The owner decides how the sheets are clipped to the steel rods and what is written on them, so no two Zettel'z look alike. The company describes it as a lamp that gives the user plenty of room for his or her own creativity; today it counts it among its best-known lamps.
A family of editions
Zettel'z 5 is the larger version of the lamp, with DIN A5 paper; Zettel'z 6 is its smaller sibling. Since 2006 Ingo Maurer has also issued coloured special editions of Zettel'z 5, Blushing Zettel'z and BangBoom! Zettel'z (both sold out) and Zettel'z Viva l'Italia!.
