Overview
Yo Lamp Large White is a portable, battery-powered lamp by Simon Legald for Normann Copenhagen, made for both indoor and outdoor use. A cylindrical base merges with a spherical lampshade, and the lamp weighs 2.6 kg.
Construction
Normann Copenhagen makes the lamp with a rotational molding process that fuses the lampshade and base. The lampshade is PE and the battery box is ABS. The smooth union of shade and base lets the entire lamp emit a glow, not just the shade. A built-in LED light source is recharged with a Type C magnetic charging head and a USB magnetic cable of 1 m.
Specifications
Ø40 x H60 cm (Yo Lamp Large, 609561). Light levels of 100%, 40% and 10% last for 7, 16 and 80 hours per charge; IP44, class III.
Story
A portable lamp for indoors and outdoors
Normann Copenhagen introduced Yo Lamp in October 2024 as a portable indoor-outdoor design by Simon Legald. The lamp had been previewed earlier that year at Copenhagen's annual 3daysofdesign festival.
A sphere on a cylinder
Its almost caricatured form offers a playful take on the traditional table lamp. A cylindrical base merges with a spherical lampshade, which gives a simple yet bold and sculptural silhouette. The lamp is suitable as both a floor lamp and a table lamp, and it runs on a rechargeable battery.
