Wireflow Pendant

Overview

Arik Levy designed Wireflow, a hanging lamp in Vibia's range. Vibia's collection page says it reinterprets the traditional pendant through a contemporary aesthetic rooted in lightness and line, with ultra-thin black electrical cables and the precise geometry of its volumes. For model 0299, Vibia's technical text says the lamp reviews and updates the chandelier look through an exercise of simplification, and that its structure of fine cables finished with eight LED terminals discreetly connects with classic chandelier models. Arik Levy's own site lists the project as "Wireflow for Vibia / 2013 / hanging lamp".

Construction

Vibia's technical information for model 0299 lists a steel canopy, an aluminium body and steel horizontal rods, with a surface canopy connection. The lighting effect is classed as Volumetric Diffuser. The collection page notes that the cable length can be adapted, which allows compositions tailored to the project, the function and the architecture.

Model 0299

Vibia's model panel describes 0299 as a structure of fine cables finished with eight LED terminals, and gives the pendant height as 2.5 m. The sketch shows a structure 100 cm high with a 150 cm plan, 60 cm on the vertical side, and a canopy of 43 cm.

Light

The terminals carry diffusers and the lighting effect is named Volumetric Diffuser: subtly directed, diffused light that generates a soft hierarchy of light on the illuminated surface. The collection page adds that Wireflow is available with or without diffuser, the diffused version giving softer, more uniform light.
