Description

Overview

Vol is a stool by Stefan Scholten for Moroso. It comes in two heights, 44 cm and 64 cm, and the taller version carries a stainless steel ring that serves as a footrest.

Construction

The legs and supporting frame are solid ash with a varnished finish, and the seat is poplar plywood covered in linoleum. The stools are not stackable.

Specifications

  • Overall size: 42 x 42 x 44 cm (VO10L2, stool)
  • Structure: varnished ash legs and frame
  • Seat: poplar plywood covered in linoleum
  • Footrest: stainless steel ring on the 64 cm version

Story

Slim sections

Stefan Scholten pared the cross-section of the stool down as far as it will go, aiming for a lightweight, elegant piece that seems to defy the laws of physics.

Linoleum and ash

The stool grows out of a careful and measured use of specific materials, seen in the solid ash structure and in the linoleum finish, a high-quality recyclable material made from natural raw resources. Its varnished ash legs follow the design of the Tulp chair, while the seat is linoleum-covered plywood like the Vol table.
