Description

Overview

Twiggy is Rodolfo Dordoni's family of seating elements for Minotti. It started from a single armchair in Small, Large and Deep versions, with or without arms, and grew to include benches, couches, a chaise longue and a dormeuse. Elements work alone or can be dropped freely into a living room to build a modular system, covered in leather, nubuck or fabric with stitched quilting.

Construction

Plywood forms the structure. The seat stacks variable-density, resilient polyurethane foam inside heat-bonded quilted fibre on white hypoallergenic cotton, and the quilt holds an inner bag of siliconised microfibre made from certified 100% recycled PET. Arms and backs are foam in heat-bonded polyester quilting. Bases are 8 mm heavy-duty aluminium blades, semi-curved, in brushed semi-polished aluminium with a textured effect or polished anti-fingerprint Black Coffee. Upholstery of the structure and cushions, fabric or leather, comes off entirely.

Specifications

Couch 124 cm: 124 cm wide, 150 cm deep and 89 cm high in the official drawing. The page also gives small armchairs of 64x90 and 90x90 cm and a large armchair of 84x90 cm.

Story

A language of aggregation

Minotti says Twiggy brings a new language of aggregation, free of schemes and preconfigured layouts and ready to follow needs that keep changing. The elements have rigorous geometric shapes yet are called very comfortable and enveloping.

Stitching and blades

According to the page, the stitching shows the brand's manufacturing know-how, even on the most sculptural seats. The curved, dynamic design of the base, in brushed semi-polished aluminium or polished Black Coffee varnished aluminium, is named among the details that set the seats apart.
