Description
Overview
Swoop Lounge Furniture is a family by Brian Kane for Herman Miller, with upholstered club and modular chairs, ottomans, a plywood lounge chair and matching tables. Its sweeping curves suit many sitting positions.
Construction
The upholstered pieces are a foam body over a concealed plywood frame on black plastic feet; the plywood lounge chair has a molded plywood shell on a tubular steel base.
Specifications
The club chair prints 35, 32, 32, 24 and 16.5 inches on the price book's drawing.
Story
Students who did not sit traditionally
Herman Miller's page says Brian Kane watched students at the California College of Art perch on arms, curl up and sprawl out, and that this observation inspired the Swoop family.

Freedom to move around
Kane says he did not want to create just another lounge chair; with traditional lounge seating, in his words, people are locked into it, and Swoop provides freedom to move around.
