Description

Overview

Tord Boontje designed Sunny in 2009. Configurator code SW0017 matches stool code SW0017 in the joint Shadowy and Sunny range. The backless model is the group's stool and sits within the M'Afrique and Outdoor Living categories.

Construction

Local artisans in Dakar handweave durable polyethylene cord around a painted steel base. PVC glides finish the contact points, and the handmade process makes each example unique.

Weaves

Patterns include Multigreen, Tartan, Multired, Black/White, Chilly, Superblu, Tutti frutti and Panafricana, alongside two-colour combinations.

Story

Recalling Northern European beach seating

The paired Shadowy and Sunny designs reinterpret beach furniture found on Northern European coasts in the 1920s. Tord Boontje combines those recalled silhouettes with digitally developed colour patterns and playful ruffled ends.

Handcrafted in Dakar

Each Sunny ottoman is woven by local artisans in Dakar using polyethylene cord traditionally employed for fishing nets. The process gives every piece individual variation in colour, weave and shape, qualities identified as part of the handmade product.
