Overview
Sum Sofa is the modular sofa in the Sum series, a Simon Legald design made by Normann Copenhagen. According to the maker, the sofa looks equally complete as a two-seater or as a lounge several metres long.
Construction
Eight module types, angled or straight and open or closed at the sides, make up the range. The bodies are soft molded PU foam over an internal steel reinforcement, the cushion is cut PU foam, and the cover is textile or leather. Assembly is simple and a manual is supplied.
Specifications
182 x 76 x 76 cm (W x D x H, SKU 712134, 2-seater); seat height 41 cm; weight 48 kg.
Story
A sofa defined by its modules
Normann Copenhagen frames Sum around a question about module count: two, four or nine. Whatever the number, the look stays complete, from a two-seater to a lounge several metres long. Buyers add up the module types they want into a customised sofa.
Wings and legs
The text pictures the armrests as a wingspread reaching out, giving the sofa an open and inviting character. Slim angled legs contrast with the generous back and armrest, and the rear is resolved so the piece reads well from every side.
