Description

Overview

Jonathan Olivares designed the Square small armchair in 2022. It carries code 061 and is paired with settee 078 in the same family.

Construction

An internal timber structure supports separately defined seat and back volumes in differentiated-density polyurethane with a polyester-fibre layer. The cover can be removed for both single-colour and bicolour versions. Powder-coated tubular steel forms the sled base, ending in black polypropylene glides.

Base colours

Pearl White, Sand and Mud are the three available base finishes.

Story

Geometry at two scales

Olivares describes Square as deriving from the repeated square unit of a woven textile. Enlarged into furniture, that grid becomes the armchair's block-like seat and back, linking the textile at a small scale with the overall form.

Designed to move with work

Square was conceived as a work chair for collaborative and agile spaces. Its compact form and light construction allow it to be repositioned as a setting changes, while the upholstered volumes retain precise geometric edges.
