Description

Overview

Solid Steel is a family of coffee tables by Rodolfo Dordoni with a clear 1970s inspiration. The tables are parallelepipeds with one or two staggered levels, with glossy and mirrored finishes.

Construction

The double-top version has a lower MDF volume edged in 3 mm polished stainless steel with a 5 mm mirror top, and an upper MDF volume in glossy lacquer or ash veneer. The single-top version has an MDF structure clad in stainless steel or a Bronze-varnished metal structure, with a recessed top, on a matt black base with ABS feet.

Specifications

  • Double-top size on the drawings: 160 × 135 × H30 cm
  • Single-top sizes: 130 × 105 and 130 × 130 × H25 cm; round Ø127 × H25 cm
  • Marble tops are 20 mm thick

Story

Staggered volumes

Minotti describes the Solid Steel tables as recreating a strong yet minimal architectural geometry from overlapping and staggered volumes, with glossy and mirrored finishes that echo the 1970s.

Steel against stone

The palette pairs mirrored stainless steel with coloured lacquers, wood and marble, the marble finished with a smoothing treatment that enhances its matt texture in contrast with the shine of the steel frame. In the 2022 Collection text Minotti places the tables within a range that combines Scandinavian style with Japanese Zen.
