Description

Overview

Vincent Van Duysen gives the Soleva armchair a continuous tubular outline with gently rounded transitions. Molteni&C presents it as the single-seat expression of the family, combining a poised frame with an enveloping posture.

Construction

The powder-coated aluminium structure supports vertical marine-plywood back panels protected by an EVA polyurethane covering. A differentiated-density polyurethane seat insert is wrapped in water-repellent, fully recyclable polyester fibre. Polyester filling and a water-repellent lining form the separate back cushion.

SPL1 dimensions

The official drawing prints 80, 90.2 and 88 cm for SPL1. The largest vertical value is not labelled with an axis on the drawing.

Story

A place to pause

Molteni&C frames the armchair as a quiet point within an outdoor arrangement. Van Duysen concentrates the family's architectural outline into one seat, letting the curved perimeter and upright back establish a protected, self-contained form.

Tactile contrast

The design moves between the precision of its tubular structure, the vertical rhythm of its rear panels and the yielding seat and back cushions. This contrast gives the armchair both visual definition and the softer character described on its official page.
