Description

Overview

Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby designed Soft Wait in 2022 as a modular public-space seating system. Seat, back, platform and table units combine into linear, curved and circular layouts.

System

  • Modules organised on a 600 mm format
  • Linear, curved and circular configurations
  • Power and data connections available within the system
  • Polished or powder-coated metal elements

Surfaces

Tables use solid-core material. Vitra specifies a PVC-free artificial leather for the upholstered seating.

Story

Waiting made adaptable

Vitra developed Soft Wait for spaces that experience frequent use and changing layouts. The system can be expanded or modified after installation.

Modules for difficult plans

Curved components permit rings and arcs as well as straight benches. Vitra highlights arrangements around columns and other awkwardly shaped areas.
