Description
Overview
Shanghai Tip is a sofa and modular system that Patricia Urquiola designed for Moroso in 2006. The backrest has a tilting mechanism: lowered, the sofa is elegant and minimal, and raised it offers great comfort.
Construction
The Shanghai Tip collection covers are fully removable. A wooden base underlies the seats, which use flexible polyurethane foam in differentiated densities plus polyester fibre. Backrest and armrest pair polyurethane foam with an internal steel frame. Feet are 2 cm diameter steel tube with polypropylene glides, in chrome or matt powder coat.
Specifications
- Overall height: 85 cm
- Seat height: 39 cm without applied load
- Feet: steel tube, chrome or matt-painted
- Glides: polypropylene
Story
The name and the feet
The name Shanghai Tip recalls the coloured wooden sticks of a famous game, which are symbolised in the painted steel tubes of the sofa's feet. Urquiola designed the system in 2006.
Backrest that tilts
With the backrest lowered the system is elegant and minimal. When the backrest, which has a tilting mechanism, is raised, it offers great comfort. The seat structure is a wooden base with flexible polyurethane foam of differentiated densities, and the covers are fully removable.
