Description

Overview

Rodolfo Dordoni's Seymour for Minotti holds on to a distinctly formal precision while yielding to curved lines in an elegant run of soft, inviting volumes. Linear and curved seating elements combine a one-piece seat cushion with foam seat backs in two heights, and they can be arranged as fixed sofas or as linear or corner sectionals.

Construction

The structure is multi-ply wood suspended on elastic webbing. The seat structure is a concave-contoured block of variable-density, resilient polyurethane foam, and arms and backs are metal coated in flame-resistant foam. Cushions hold goose down in channels (Assopiuma Gold Label) with a polyurethane core insert, and the seat cushions are reversible. Support comes from extruded aluminium bars painted Bronze, ending in nylon slides.

Specifications

Story

Curves, not corners

Minotti's page puts Seymour against the strictly geometric forms of the Yang seating system. It describes a sofa of softly feminine comfort and sensual elegance, drawn from a dynamic, sinuous architectural language.

Face to face

Curved elements stress the soft lines of the system and its open invitation to mingle, the page says, and Seymour sofas set facing each other become the stars of the living area, together with the Catlin and Joy "Jut Out" coffee tables. Catlin coffee tables, Yang ottomans and Leslie armchairs are named as companions.
