Description

Overview

The Sendai lounge sofa belongs to a Minotti line by Inoda+Sveje that the official page describes as a small sofa, an armchair, a lounge armchair and dining and lounge little armchairs. The technical sheet draws the lounge sofa in two sizes, 156 cm and 192 cm wide.

Construction

The frame is a metal shell coated in fire-resistant polyurethane foam, covered with a coupled breathable and hypoallergenic laminated fibre. The platform is plywood with an additional insert in temperature-sensitive variable-density material. The seat cushion is variable-density polyurethane foam in a thermo-bonded fibre wrap, and the covers of both cushions and frame come off in the fabric and the leather versions. The legs are solid ash with an open-pore Licorice lacquer or solid Canaletto walnut stained Light Brown.

Specifications

Lounge sofa 156: 156 cm wide, 79 cm deep, 67 cm high (technical sheet). Lounge sofa 192: 192 cm wide, 100 cm deep, 74 cm high.

Story

A city of trees

Minotti's page says the line is named after Sendai, the city of trees. It compares the polished legs to slender trunks that rest on the ground and lift the enveloping upholstered body, creating a soft rhythm of vertical lines.

A living room within the living room

According to the page, the compact, well-proportioned silhouette of the seats and the small sofa opens up a new way of using the dining space: a hybrid situation in which dinner is served at a large table while guests meet round a lounge table.

The 2023 expansion

In 2023 the page says the family of seats grew with a new enveloping sofa, a swivel armchair with armrests and a footstool.
