Description
Overview
SEELA | S312 is the 4-legged chair of Lapalma's SEELA family, credited to Antti Kotilainen and dated 2018 on the page and on the product sheet. Lapalma describes it as sophisticated yet casual, with an aerodynamic design complemented by material elements such as wood and fabric.
Construction
The product sheet describes a polypropylene shell with an integrated seamless seat-pad; the pad can be polypropylene, wood or fabric, comes off with 4 screws and can be replaced. The shell can also be fully upholstered, without a removable pad. The base has 4 legs in mat chromed steel or powder coated, with glides in nylon with felt. The sheet adds that it is complemented by a stool in two heights.

Story
A lesson in Finnish design
The Lapalma product sheet presents SEELA as a lesson in Finnish design: the encounter between Antti Kotilainen and Lapalma resulted in a chair that expresses beauty through spontaneous contact between wood, polypropylene and steel. In the sheet's words, the sinuous shell on light bases has an integrated seamless seat-pad, with countless variations and much serenity.
A replaceable seat-pad
The seat-pad of the S312 is integrated and seamless, yet the sheet says it can be polypropylene, wood or fabric and be replaced after undoing 4 screws. A fully upholstered shell is also listed.
