Description
Overview
Sail Out Sofa is Rodolfo Dordoni's 2020 modular outdoor sofa for Cassina. Seat modules use five, six or seven padded bands. One illustrated arrangement measures 267 × 119 × 68 cm.
Construction
A tubular metal frame carries plastic slats and teak panels. Removable padded sections sit in individually stitched pockets, while interchangeable side tables and back or arm elements connect through joints in the panels. Five fabric ranges provide 73 upholstery colours.
Story
Vacation reference
Cassina connects Sail Out with the forms of mid-century canvas air mattresses. The sewn pockets divide the seat into visible padded bands.
Reconfigurable parts
Three seat modules, two heights of arm or back elements and a side table can be combined in multiple layouts.
