Description

Overview

The S 1040 is a patio table from the Thonet Design Team, designed in 1999. Thonet calls it the classic patio table, beautiful, simple and robust, and says it forms a harmonic combination with the S 40 chairs.

Construction

The top is made of 12 solid Iroko laths, oiled with a colourless hard oil. It stands on a round-tube frame of stainless steel with four adjustable glides.

Story

The classic patio table

Thonet presents the S 1040 as the classic patio table: beautiful, simple and robust. Together with the S 40 chairs, in Thonet's words, it forms a harmonic combination for outdoor use.

Iroko against the weather

Iroko is a dense African wood that is highly weather resistant. It looks like teak and has a smooth, even surface, and Thonet oils the laths for protection.
