Description

Overview

Roger is a seating system by Rodolfo Dordoni, developed with Minotti, built from three kinds of element. Roger Suite has a cushioned seat and is 101 cm deep; Roger Spring is a monobloc seat of the same depth with a pocket-spring insert and a fully quilted surface; Roger Spring Sofà is the armless version, 94 cm deep. High and low backrests, several armrests, and tops or containers (Case) can be combined with them.

Construction

Plywood of various thicknesses is the structure. The Suite seat is resilient, variable-density foam with a concave contour for its cushion, while the Spring seat holds a core of steel pocket springs. Both cushions pair an insert of polyurethane foam and a Memory Foam layer with a goose down fill in channels, Assopiuma Gold Label certified. An extruded aluminium perimeter frame sits on aluminium blades varnished polished anti-fingerprint Black Coffee and lifts the seats 13 cm off the floor.

Specifications

Suite sofa low, 250 cm: 250 cm wide, 101 cm deep and 91 cm high, as drawn by Minotti. Also listed on the page are the Suite sofa high square at 258 cm and the low sofa at 274 cm.

Story

Made for the venue

Minotti presents Roger as a site-specific installation, tailored each time to its host venue and the requests of whoever commissions it. The page calls the system the product of an open design, meant to be composed with imagination and personalised with style.

Long quilted lines

Couture-like workmanship gives a graphic quilting effect of long horizontal lines along the backrests, the seating elements and the matching benches, which makes the surfaces feel very soft.

A super system

Minotti describes a system, or rather a super system, that can produce many layouts for homes and hospitality. Besides back-to-back pieces with one trapezoidal backrest and chaise longues with or without the Case element, the family has benches in several sizes.
