Description

Overview

The Rey Chair is HAY's relaunch of the stackable chair that Swiss designer Bruno Rey designed in 1971, produced together with Dietiker. HAY describes a timeless and versatile chair with a shared language of rounded edges and robust connections, which combines cast aluminium brackets with wooden parts.

Construction

The HAY fact sheet lists moulded plywood with beech veneer for the shell and solid beech legs, finished in water-based lacquer, with a plastic glider as standard and felt gliders for wooden floors as an option. Selected upholstered seat options are offered, with 25 mm foam on the upholstered chairs. HAY updated the chair with new dimensions and material combinations, and states that it is crafted in solid wood.

Story

The chair in the Rey Collection

The Rey Chair is the stackable chair at the centre of the Rey Collection. The fact sheet dates the chair's relaunch to 2022 and says it was modified in new dimensions to suit contemporary lifestyle needs. It is offered in the original colours and in new tones selected by HAY, and the sheet adds selected upholstered seat options.

Stacking and settings

The sheet gives a stacking figure of up to four chairs. It describes the design as suited to settings from living rooms and halls to cafes and receptions, and the page names domestic, public and corporate use.
