Overview
Sylvain Willenz designed the Rebar Side Table for HAY, which groups it with Rebar coffee and tray tables. A reinforced steel bar frame carries a marble tabletop, and the rectangular version adds a powder coated steel tray.
Construction
The frame is made of 16 mm anchor rebar, fully welded, and the tabletop is an 18 mm polished marble with chamfered edges, according to the HAY fact sheet.

Story
Designer
Sylvain Willenz is a Belgian designer who established his own studio in Brussels in 2004 and is a graduate of the MA Design Products course at the Royal College of Art in London (2003).
The idea behind the series
HAY's text frames the Rebar tables as an exploration of reconsidering construction materials and processes, with the steel bar frame set against marble tops and metal trays.
