Description

Overview

Eric Jourdan's Postmoderne bedside table is a narrow open storage piece built from three staggered horizontal surfaces. Rounded edging and offset legs create an asymmetrical outline while keeping the shelves accessible from several sides.

Construction

The edging uses 8 mm multi-ply clad in natural oak, black-stained oak or walnut veneer. A flat metal reinforcement at the centre rear adds rigidity. The finish programme coordinates the legs and upper-top edge, the upper top and the shelves in eight associations.

Dimensions

The bedside table measures 400 x 400 x 650 mm (W x D x H) and weighs 11.5 kg.

Story

A drawn, asymmetrical structure

Postmoderne began with a language of forms in which the constituent elements were drawn, adjusted and proportioned. On the bedside table, the top and lower shelves shift against the upright legs rather than aligning as a conventional box.

Rounded edges and open storage

The curved upper rail frames a shallow top surface, while two open shelves sit below. Veneered multi-ply edging gives the slim structure a timber face, and the concealed metal reinforcement stabilises the open composition.
